Local artist Carol Virak has devoted her lifelong interest in art to “finding her own voice,” as an artist. Her works are vibrant, bright, visually intriguing, and lead you into a portal that skirts fantasy.
Harbor History Museum will host her upcoming show, Collage; Between Fantasy & Reality in their lobby gallery from February 25- April 16. A members’ only gallery opening reception is planned for February 24, 6-8pm at the Museum.
Carol is a classically trained artist who “enjoys the discipline of depicting an object realistically, then deconstructing it slightly to create a more visually interesting version of that object. Collage using acrylic on canvas is more challenging as an art form because, of course, one cannot move the objects around on the canvas to organize the most interesting visual.” Carol is involved in community art initiatives and spends much of her time helping other artists which led to her appointment as a Fellow with the National Endowment of the Arts in Washington DC. Carol is also owner of the CV Gallery in Gig Harbor.
Collage; Between Fantasy & Reality, will be on exhibit in the Museum’s lobby gallery between February 25- April 16. Admission to the lobby gallery is free and open to members and the public alike.
