Chalk the Harbor Winners Announced!
Gig Harbor, Wa – July 21, 2014. The Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 Chalk the Harbor competition. Chalk the Harbor took place this past weekend on the downtown waterfront and featured over 300 chalk artists of all ages who competed in ten different categories. Congratulations to the following contestants who will receive a Certificate of Award for winning the category they competed in:
Under 3: Aubrey Colby for the nice artistic design drawing near Skansie Park.
4-6 year: Bethany Rajnus for the colorful ovals she created near Java & Clay Café.
7-10 year old: Faith Widrig for her creative work featuring fish jumping out of the water near Anthony’s.
11-13 year old: Savannah Morrow for her inspired drawing of Ariel.
High School: Raven Shipley for her beautiful work the judges referred to as “Sailing into Gig Harbor”, across the street from Bella Kitchen & Home Downtown.
College: Emeline Agnew for her artistic drawing of hands drawing an octopus, near the Downtown Waterfront Alliance office.
Adult: Sean Murphy for the wonderful work of the dolphin coming out of the water at the Threshold Building.
Family: Colene Acker & Family for the magnificent work featuring a lighthouse and sailboat at Eddon Boat Park.
Group: Charlie Sikes & Others for their very creative drawings of what the judges referred to as “Fairies” in front of the Threshold Building.
Maritime Theme: Brandi Nicholson and friends for the outstanding Mermaid themed work at the corner of Harborview and Rosedale.
Honorable Mention: Naphtali Ward for the colorful drawing she did of Aerial and Flounder near Skansie Park.
Spectators and artists were encouraged to vote in the People’s Choice Award competition that took place among professional Artists Diana Dahlgren, Steven Stolz, Rylee Stearnes and Pat Meras. Pat Meras was the winner for the beautiful seascape/sunset work she did in front of Full Moon Art Gallery.
