Chamber announces Maritime Gig Entertainment

Plenty of local “Gigs” at the 2017 Gig

Gig Harbor, WA - May 9, 2017 – This year’s Maritime Gig Festival entertainment schedule features something for everyone, with a heavy emphasis on outstanding musical performances from our talented community. Headline entertainment is sure to rock your Maritime boat with performances from three locally-based bands, the family-friendly Intrepid Band, the always-popular The Diamond Experience, and of course, the legendary Shy Boys. Performances from the Harbor Winds Concert Band, Harbor Voice, Harbor Dance, Peninsula Youth Orchestra, Swing Fever, Paul and Marcie Forrest, Ava Adams, Champagne Sunday, and Cannibal Hamster round out the local contingent. The Maritime Gig Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, June 3 & 4. All performances are free and take place at Skansie Brothers Park.

Saturday night’s featured headliner is The Diamond Experience. Popular at local venues and in years past at the Gig Festival, this lively Neil Diamond tribute band headed by singer Billy Farmer will have you dancing and singing from 7:00 to 8:30. Earlier in the day, the Intrepid Band will kick off Saturday’s entertainment at 12:15 with well-known songs from a variety of groups including The Beatles, Queen, Foo Fighters, Switchfoot, Lifehouse, and many others. The band plays family-friendly cover songs weekly at Intrepid Christian Church and is led by Jeremy Wilson, a music teacher at Discovery Elementary School. The young at heart will enjoy a return engagement from Alex Zerbe the Zaniac at 3:15 pm Saturday. Alex captivates audiences of all ages with comedy, juggling, and tricks that will amaze the entire family.

The Gig is thrilled to welcome Seattle’s Adrian Xavier to the stage at 4:45. Music-maker and community leader, Adrian Xavier has been spreading his uplifting message for almost two decades. With three solo albums and nearly twenty album collaborations, Adrian Xavier has established himself as a performer of depth and dimension. Blending reggae and dub with genre-bending projects, he has created music that delivers universal messages of peace, community and love.

Also on Saturday, husband and wife duo, Champagne Sunday, will entertain at 1:45. Jessi and Jared Fredeen have been tearing up stages and crowds nationwide with their upbeat, roller coaster style show, firing off gypsy-punk rock songs along with a range of intimate tear-jerkers and anthemic foot-stompers. Ava Adams takes the stage at 4:00, playing a set of acoustic Indie and classic rock guitar. Ava is a local student and is vocalist for the local A Street Blues Band. Paul and Marcie Forrest will round out Saturday’s schedule with a 6:15 performance of songs from Simon and Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, Jefferson Airplane, Rolling Stones and more. A seasoned acoustic duo performing the classics of the 60s and 70s, they’ll get you hopping and bring back memories.

Sunday’s fun, energetic finale includes performances by Cannibal Hamster and the Shy Boys.  Cannibal Hamster is a local teen rock band playing 70s, 80s and 90s rock hits. They started playing together in Oct 2014 and all attend Gig Harbor High School. Keep your eye on this up and coming band. They have an amazing fan base and love playing local venues, festivals and special events in the area. They’ll take the stage at 3:00, followed at 3:30 by Gig Harbor's legendary Shy Boys. The Shy Boys play acoustic rock from the 70's and 80's with extraordinary energy, and have been voted South Sound Magazine's best band and Evening Magazine's Top 10 Best of Western Washington for three years in a row.  2017 will mark the Shy Boys' sixth appearance at the Maritime Gig Festival!
