COOKIES FOR SOLDIERS IN AFGHANISTAN
Gig Harbor, Wash. – September 20, 2012 –The City of Gig Harbor has enjoyed its connection to Joint Base Lewis-McChord through their Community Connector program for many years, building a great relations with the men and women of the 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade. For the third year in a row, Gig Harbor is undertaking a Cookies for Soldiers campaign, led by Mayor Chuck Hunter’s wife Dianne.
In December 2009 5000 cookies (50 boxes) were sent to our soldiers in Iraq. In 2012, we are doing it again for our soldiers in Afghanistan. The community is asked to donate;
· Two dozen or more cookies, put in zip lock bags of 4-6 cookies each
· Deliver to 3710 Grandview Street (Brick Building between Pioneer and Stinson) between October 22-25th, anytime between 9am-4pm
· Or donate money to help pay for postage. Each flat rate postage box costs $13.45.
· Pass this along to your family and friends
Afghanistan is about 90 degrees now, so please no cookies with frosting. Cookies should be sturdy enough for mailing, as it could be 2 weeks or more before they arrive at the destination. Cookies will be mailed on Friday October 26th.
