First Saturday Art Walk Returns To Gig Harbor's Downtown Waterfront

Gig Harbor, WA: Indulge your love of art on October 3rd from 1-4pm at the First Saturday Art Walk along Gig Harbor's Downtown Waterfront. The Gig Harbor Waterfront Alliance is re-launching this award-winning event as yet another step towards showcasing downtown as an enjoyable destination for both visitors and area residents. This free event allows art enthusiasts to stroll through six galleries featuring artist demonstrations, refreshments, and displays reflecting a diverse selection of mediums and styles.

“We believe art plays a significant role in creating a downtown destination, and an art walk is an interactive way to be part of this positive transformation,” noted Brad Stave, gallery committee chair. Art walk participants can elect to pick-up a passport at any one of the galleries, collect a stamp from each location, and turn in their passport to be entered into a monthly drawing for a $50.00 gift certificate.

For the October 3rd Art Walk, Ebb Tide Gallery will feature Judy Prisoc, a Gig Harbor artist who enjoys depicting familiar objects with an exactitude that requires close observation in order to see beyond the expected. As an artist, she has balanced her career between teaching and painting while exhibiting in galleries throughout the U.S. At Gallery Row, Sculptor Karen Miner will be demonstrating a new process she is using to create a Salmon out of clay. Best known for her Ravens and Raku Salmon, these new Salmon will be a unique design. Each of her sculptures are hand-built, carved, cast, stretched, combined, and altered. Painter Joan Teed will also be demonstrating her work. Water’s Edge Gallery will feature watercolor artist George Milliken. Other participating galleries include Blackwater Trading Co, Sea Hags and Peacock Hill Gallery.
