Public should expect intermittent dock closures during project
Gig Harbor, WA; February 9th, 2016 – The City of Gig Harbor is currently undertaking a utility construction project at Jerisich Dock, 3211 Harborview Drive, in an effort to upgrade the amenities offered at the location. The work began on February 1st with a goal of being substantially complete by March 2nd, 2016. Improvements will include the ability to provide water and power services to moored vessels. Project also includes automatic payment kiosk and gangway resurfacing.
Work starts in the park as the contractor digs a trench to install conduit and waterlines. The work progresses in the second week to install plumbing in the floats, other conduits and the electrical services. The third and fourth weeks they will install the pedestals, complete the electrical disconnect work and install the electrical connections in the pedestals. The final week they will finish the plumbing in the pedestals and complete miscellaneous electrical work.
The contractor anticipates intermittently closing the dock between the days of February 8th and March 1st in order to maintain public safety. There may also be longer closures, not to exceed one work period (~8am – 5pm). If impacts to owners of moored boats will be more than intermittent, the contractor will coordinate work to allow them access as necessary, however, access for the general public will be limited.
The City of Gig Harbor hopes to minimize the impact to Skansie Brothers Park, 3207 Harborview Drive, area businesses and the traveling public through this part of town. Please watch the City’s website at www.cityofgigharbor.net/pw-current-projects/ for continuous updated information on this and other City of Gig Harbor construction projects in 2016.
