GIG HARBOR TEES UP FOR 2010 US AMATEUR

June 2010, Gig Harbor, WA. – When the 110th U.S. Amateur is played at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, WA on August 23-29 of 2010, it will be the first municipal course to host this prestigious championship, and it will be only the second time the U.S. Amateur has been played in the State of Washington.

 

On August 16-19, Canterwood Golf and Country Club in Gig Harbor, WA will host the 2010 Scratch Players Championship, preliminary to the U.S. Amateur Championship.  Founded in 1988, Canterwood is ranked 7th in the state by Golf Digest and considered its 2nd most difficult course.

 

Famous for its maritime heritage and historic net sheds, active fishing fleet, water sports and boating of all kinds, Gig Harbor is putting out the red carpet, welcoming golfers and visitors for these two historic golf tournaments.
