Gig Harbor's City Clerk Receives Prestigious Award

Molly Towslee, MMC, City Clerk for the City of Gig Harbor, WA, received the prestigious title of “President’s Award of Distinction” from the Washington Municipal Clerks Association at the group’s annual conference in Pasco, WA. President Scott Passey announced the award at the group’s annual banquet on Thursday, March 20.

He cited Ms. Towslee’s exceptional devotion to public service, her continuing contributions to WMCA, and her dedication to the City of Gig Harbor and the profession of City Clerk during the presentation. City Manager Dennis Richards nominated Ms. Towslee and noted, among many other accomplishments, her leadership abilities have provided much needed common sense and knowledge in finding solutions to solving difficult problems, even at the expense of her own comfort. Molly’s professional yet no-nonsense leadership style have helped to stabilize the city organization and keep everyone on track to get work done. She has been the point of contact for training the HR Analyst, brought back the Wellness Program to the city, and serves, additionally, as Risk Manager. Molly takes the lead in records management, including retention and public disclosure requests. Molly excels in communication and public relations and takes the time with each person who comes to her for assistance and information. Molly serves on the Insurance Pool Board and as Chair of the Civil Service Board. As a 22-year employee and resident of Gig Harbor, Molly is also active is many Civic Events

The President’s Award of Distinction is open for nominations among more than 300 Clerks in the state of Washington. In Molly you will find a mentor to new WMCA members, as well as a student of your more experienced WMCA members. President Passey agreed that Ms. Towslee serves as an excellent example of outstanding contributions to the City Clerk profession through her dedicated and frequent contributions to Gig Harbor and to WMCA.
