Gigging Up The Harbor = Definition Of Community
May 26, 2016 Gig Harbor, WA - We were reminded on Saturday, May 21 of what a wonderful, positive, and supportive community we have in Gig Harbor. Over 50 hardworking volunteers participated in "Gigging Up the Harbor", the Waterfront Alliance's 2nd annual spring clean-up day. Service organizations, families, newcomers, business owners, residents, and even an exchange student braved the rain and showed up to clean up the downtown waterfront and get us ready for the upcoming summer season.
Special thanks to Kiwanis for their work at the Skansie House, Rotary of Gig Harbor (check out the "flag pole park" on Pioneer), Anthony's for putting together a great crew in Finholm, Tickled Pink who brought their whole staff as well as donated flats of beautiful annuals to plant, our awesome pressure washing team of Bill Fogarty, Bob Martin, Michael Perrow and Mayor Jill Guernsey, and the partnership of the City for their trucks, supplying bark dust, and hauling away the mounds of debris. We can't forget to thank Mike Henery and Michael Perrow from the Alliance Design Committee who orchestrated the entire event.
After three hours of pulling, digging, hauling and overall hard work, a picnic in the park was provided for the volunteers by El Pueblito, Devoted Kiss, Harbor General Store, and Costco.
Gigging Up the Harbor is a wonderful display of the true heart of Gig Harbor. Thank you to all who participated. We hope you will consider joining us next year!
