October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Gig Harbor

Gig Harbor, WA, October 9th, 2013 – In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Mayor Charles Hunter of the City of Gig Harbor will proclaim the month of October as Domestic Violence Month in Gig Harbor at the City Council meeting on October 14, 2013, beginning at 5:30 pm.

Gig Harbor recognizes that domestic violence prevention is everyone’s responsibility and has seen a steady rise in applications for protection orders at the DV Kiosk located at City Hall, rising from 82 in 2010, 83 in 2011, 96 in 2012, and 65 so far this year. Gig Harbor citizens are invited to join in this recognition and participate in any of the events hosted throughout the Pierce County area.
