The Alliance Presents It's A Wonderful Waterfront!

HayRides
Holiday fun is everywhere along our beautiful downtown waterfront this holiday season.  Shopping and dining opportunities abound, with caroling celebrations, festive displays, holiday lights on land and sea, and multiple appearances by the man in the big red suit, Santa Claus!

The eighth annual “Deck the Harbor,” presented by the Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance, is a storefront decorating contest in which merchants are challenged to create imaginative holiday displays. The Alliance invites you to stroll the harbor while shopping and dining and enjoy the displays and vote for your favorite window and store decorations in the People’s Choice voting.  Simply fill out a ballot by entering the name of the business that has your favorite display and place in the basket in their store!  Businesses have been working creatively to add that touch of holiday spirit to their windows and storefronts for your enjoyment as you shop all the wonderful stores along the waterfront.  People’s Choice voting takes place from November 24th through December 16th.

Children always love the Holiday Hayrides with Santa, taking place on Friday and Saturday, December 7th and 8th.    This magical ride, a partnership of the Downtown Waterfront Alliance, Miracle Ranch and Timberland Bank, meets on Judson Street at the Bank and operates from 4:30pm -7:30pm both days.  Refreshments will be available at the Bank, and the rides are free.  The Hayride makes a short stop during its one block journey to experience live Christmas music being performed and an opportunity for a brief sing-along with Santa. Be sure to bring your camera as Santa always makes time for photos!

The Alliance’s crowd-pleasing, community caroling event, Hark the Harbor, returns to Skansie Brother’s Park on Sunday, December 9th at 5:30 pm. Songbooks and candles will be provided.  Sharon Stearnes - family friendly entertainer and accomplished musician - will lead carolers with joyful holiday carols while awaiting the arrival of the Argosy Christmas Ship, all aglow in festive lights!  The Olympia Youth Choir – Cantabile will be performing from the ship starting at 6:15pm.

Once again, the Gig Harbor Lions Club is sponsoring Giving Trees at businesses all over the Downtown Waterfront this holiday season. Help make the holidays special for children of the less fortunate in the Gig Harbor area. Simply take a tag from the tree, purchase the "special wish" item on the tag, and return it unwrapped to the business with the Giving Tree by December 14. All gifts will be distributed by the Cheney Boys and Girls Club and the FISH Food Bank.

Throughout the month while shopping downtown, be sure to bring your Girls Night Out Event Programs filled with great holiday coupon offers. Be sure to follow “It’s a Wonderful Waterfront – Gig Harbor” on Facebook for daily listings of holiday happenings, Santa Sightings, shopping specials, and more! No need to cross the bridge….you can fill your holiday schedules with all the things going on downtown.
