Thursday Night Out returns just in time for Mother's Day

Gig Harbor, WA – The Downtown Waterfront Alliance invites you to bring Mom to the waterfront to enjoy everything that's happening during Thursday Night Out on May 8th. Besides picking up her free rose from the Alliance's roaming "Goodwill Ambassadors", Moms and their families and friends can enjoy live entertainment from Peninsula Youth Orchestra's String Quartet; the talented dancers from Gig Harbor's Harbor Dance; the fresh and fun energy from Gig Harbor's own POP STAR KIDS USA; and Sharon Stearnes, Gig Harbor's One Woman Band. POPSTAR KIDS USA is a music performance school for kids of all ages. Their performance program was created by combining traditional performing arts studies and the astonishing pop-culture phenomenon shows like American Idol, Glee, The Voice, and more! Sharon Stearnes is a popular keyboard performer and is well known from her past as staff organist playing the Mighty Wurlitzer at Pizza & Pipes Tacoma and organist for the Seattle Mariners back when they played in the Kingdome. Chuck and Robin Wayne, a duo performing acoustic music of the 70's and 80's on guitar and flute, will be playing in front of Devoted Kiss Cafe.

Moms will also enjoy Gig Harbor’s monthly Artwalk by taking in several of the ten participating art galleries along the water’s edge. One gallery, Tradewinds Treasure Gallery, will be highlighting Gary Peterson's art . Mr. Peterson is from Port Townsend and his works are highlighted with custom frames using mixed media to accent/reflect what he is communicating in his painting. One of his pieces, "Soft Summer Moonlight" will be on display and was inspired by the solitude of the waterfront after the wooden boat show ending in Port Townsend two years ago. At the recently remodeled Gallery Row, Artist Nancy Cory will be the featured 3D artist, demonstrating the process she uses to fuse and slump glass.

"Thursday Night Out" is scheduled for Thursday May 8th and features over fifty retailers, galleries and restaurants with special offers, activities, demonstrations, refreshments and fun. This ongoing monthly event takes place on the second Thursday of each month on the downtown waterfront from 5 - 8pm. A complimentary Thursday Night Out shuttle bus will be available to help people enjoy all of the participating businesses, and starting in June, the Pierce Transit “Get Around Gig Harbor” Trolley will operate on Thursday nights until 8:30.
