Trolleys To End Summer Service For 2017

Pierce Transit on Sunday Schedule for Labor Day; Trolleys to end summer service

Pierce Transit local buses and SHUTTLE paratransit services will operate on a Sunday Schedule on Monday, Sept. 4. For specific route information visit www.piercetransit.org/pierce-transit-routes/, select a route and click on the “Sundays” tab. If there is no Sundays tab, that route will not operate on Labor Day.

Pierce Transit’s administrative offices and the Tacoma Dome Station Bus Shop will be closed Sept. 4 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

SHUTTLE phone services will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registered SHUTTLE customers should call (253) 581-8000 (option 1, then option 2) for assistance and reservations.

The Labor Day weekend also brings about final service for the Downtown to Defiance Trolley and the Gig Harbor Trolley. The Downtown to Defiance Trolley’s last day of service day is Sunday, Sept. 3; the Gig Harbor Trolley’s final service day is Monday, Sept. 4.

The Downtown to Defiance Trolley was a pilot service for the summer of 2017 to learn how the community would respond to this type of special service. The Pierce Transit Board of Commissioners will hold a public comment period on the Downtown to Defiance Trolley service at its Oct. 9 board meeting, which begins at 4 p.m. at Pierce Transit’s Training Center, Building 5, Rainier Conference Room, 3720 – 96th St. SW, Lakewood. The Board will consider operating the service again next summer at its Nov. 13 meeting, which also begins at 4 p.m. at the Pierce Transit Training Center.
