Winners Selected in Youth Art Display Contest

Mosaic by Caroline Karhan - Best of Show

Winners have been selected in the Harbor Youth Art Display Contest that was held in February at participating galleries along Gig Harbor’s downtown waterfront.  More than 30 local Peninsula School District Middle and High School art students put their art on display at Sea Hags, Ebb Tide Gallery, Gallery Row, and Water’s Edge Gallery & Framery, Inc. The Gig Harbor Art Commission presented their awards on March 25th at the City Council meeting.

Additionally, the public selected four “People’s Choice” winners in the contest.  Students from Peninsula High School, Harbor Ridge and Key Peninsula Middle Schools participated, encouraged by their Art teachers Christine Buchanan and Mr. Hall of Peninsula High School, Richard Miller of Key Peninsula Middle School and Valerie Lee at Harbor Ridge Middle School.  Over 200 People’s Choice nomination forms were collected in the voting.
