Chalk the Walk Returns With A New Name!
Gig Harbor, WA – June 5, 2012 – The popular summertime event for families and kids of all ages returns on Saturday, July 21st with a new name, Chalk the Harbor! In keeping with Gig Harbor’s history as a Maritime City, the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association (GHHWA) has changed the name and will be encouraging all chalk artists to create art that depicts images of the harbor, its fishing heritage, or any creative maritime or nautical theme.
The GHHWA provides all the necessary chalk for free, and offers award certificates for best chalk art in the following categories: Kids, Family, High School, College Students, Adult and Maritime/Nautical theme. Registration takes place on the day of the event from 10am – 2pm at two downtown locations, Anthony’s parking lot in the Finholm District and the Pioneer/Harborview intersection near the Fly Shop. The event continues until 3pm. Participants and spectators are encouraged to visit the Peninsula Art League’s annual Summer Arts Festival taking place on Judson Street on both Saturday and Sunday. Around the Sound Transit will offer courtesy shuttle bus service between the Summer Arts Festival and the Sidewalk Districts.
