City of Gig Harbor Receives Clean Audit

Gig Harbor, Wash. – January 5, 2011 – The City of Gig Harbor has received an unqualified audit opinion from the State Auditor’s Office for the 2009 fiscal year ending December 31, 2009. Each year the State Auditor performs audit procedures to determine whether the city complied with state laws and regulations, its own policies and procedures, and federal grant requirements. The auditor also audits the city’s annual financial statements and evaluates the effectiveness of internal controls established by city management. The city has received “clean” audits since 1992.

“Very few cities can point to seventeen years of outstanding audits without any findings” said Gig Harbor City Councilman Steve Ekberg. “This is due totally to the professionalism of the City of Gig Harbor Finance Director Dave Rodenbach, dedicated staff and active oversight by the Mayor and City Council.”

For additional information regarding the audit procedure and findings, or for a copy of the audit, contact City of Gig Harbor Finance Director Dave Rodenbach at (253) 851-8136.
