June 2, 2010, Gig Harbor Wash.  The City of Gig Harbor will host a public open house Tuesday June 15, 2010 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, 3510 Grandview Street for the public to review and comment on the upcoming Marine Outfall Project. The Open House will be staffed by City of Gig Harbor Engineers, Advanced American Construction and Cosmopolitan Engineering and will provide the public an opportunity to view plans and ask questions.

Beginning in July 2010 and expected to continue through March 2011, this major and unusual project is part of a multi-phased wastewater treatment upgrade begun by the City of Gig Harbor in 2008.  Phase I was the Onshore Outfall Project along North Harborview completed in ’08.  Phase II is the expansion of the Wastewater Treatment Facility, currently underway, which will expand capacity for the community.  Phase III, the Outfall Project will improve capacity in the near future while also improving the environmental impact on Gig Harbor Bay.  An additional treatment plant expansion is planned in the future as the final phase.

Beginning in July, barges, tugboats and platforms will be in Gig Harbor Bay as the pipeline begins to be installed along the bed of the bay.  Some marine traffic may be disrupted or delayed for short periods of time.  On-going information about the activity will be available to boaters and land-lubbers on-line at

The Marine Outfall Project is funded through City of Gig Harbor Revenue Bonds and low-interest loans through the Public Trust Fund.

Tuesday June 15th from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, 3510 Grandview Street, is an important opportunity for the public to learn and ask questions as well as comment on the project.
