Downtown Waterfront Alliance Announces Deck the Harbor Winners!

Gig Harbor, WA – December 9, 2013 – Deck the Harbor, the Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance’s popular holiday window decorating contest, drew a record 25 participating businesses this year. As part of Candlelight Christmas in the Harbor, businesses join in this friendly competition to create festive window displays, storefronts and interiors to help create that old fashioned, small town Christmas feeling.

The “Deck the Harbor” panels of judges (Kerrie Clos, Mary DesMarais, Linda James and Josh Sherwin) were thrilled with all the wonderfully decorated windows, creative energy and holiday spirit demonstrated by the participating businesses. Josh Sherwin, Special Projects Coordinator for the Downtown Waterfront Alliance, said “Once again, the judges were challenged to determine winners and had to create a couple of additional categories in order to honor all of their hard work. They really outdid themselves this year.”

The community is encouraged to find some time this holiday season to visit all the downtown waterfront stores, enjoy the festive decorations and vote for the People’s Choice award. While shopping, look for the sign in the window indicating participating businesses. Voting continues through December 24th.
