Experience the Magic of Christmas on the Downtown Waterfront!

Gig Harbor, WA – December 2, 2015 - Holiday magic is everywhere on Gig Harbor’s beautiful downtown waterfront this festive holiday season.

Deck the Harbor
, presented by the Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance, is a window decorating contest in which merchants are challenged to create imaginative holiday displays. The Alliance invites you to stroll the harbor, enjoy the displays and vote for your favorite window in the People’s Choice voting. Simply enter the business that has your favorite display and fill out a ballot! Businesses have been working creatively to add that touch of holiday magic to their windows for your enjoyment. You can vote all month long through December 31st.

On Thursday, December 10th, “Get your ugly on!” during the Alliance’s second annual Ugly Sweater Contest! Contestants should meet at the Skansie Park Christmas Tree at 6pm for photos, prizes and fun! Judges will award prizes in multiple categories including a $50 gift card from the world famous Tides Tavern as well as a few tacky gifts that no ugly sweater owner can live without. Expect tacky holiday music to fill the air.

Holiday Hayrides with Santa are back on Friday and Saturday, December 11th and 12th. What child wouldn’t love a hayride with Santa? This magical treat meets at Timberland Bank on Judson and operates from 4:30pm -7"30pm. Refreshments will be available at the Bank, and the rides are free. Snow is in the forecast along the route. It’s magic!

The Alliance’s crowd-pleasing, community caroling event, Hark the Harbor, takes place Sunday, December 13th at 5:45 pm at the pavilion in Skansie Park. Songbooks and candles will be provided. Sharon Stearnes, a family oriented entertainer and accomplished musician, will lead carolers with joyful holiday carols while awaiting the arrival of the Argosy Christmas Ship, all aglow in festive lights! The Olympia Youth Choir – Cantabile will be performing from the ship.

Throughout the month while shopping downtown, ladies are reminded to bring their Girls Night Out Event Programs filled with great holiday coupon offers.

The Gig Harbor Lions Club is sponsoring Giving Trees at businesses all over the Downtown Waterfront this holiday season. Help make the holidays special for children of the less fortunate in the Gig Harbor area. Simply take a tag from the tree, purchase the "special wish" item on the tag, and return it to the business with the Giving Tree by December 18.
