Fall Gig Harbor Calendar of Events Set for 2012

Gig Harbor, Wash. – July 2, 2012 – It may just be warming up for summer, but Gig Harbor is inviting you to experience all it has for Fall 2012!! This small town offers big entertainment options with the wide variety of events, festivals, runs and performances throughout the year, with some great autumn options. Information on these events as well tempting hotel deals and fabulous dining can be found by visiting Gig Harbor’s community website;

· September 1st Third Annual Over the Narrows 10 mile Run at 8am and a new 5K at 9am. A day of fitness and fun for running enthusiasts and the entire family!

· September 15th Harbor Hounds Walk the Town – bring your pooch and enjoy the 10th annual dog walk in the harbor from 10am-3pm. Registration required.

· September 15th & 16th Open Studio Tour 10am-5pm. Since 1993 artist open their private studios to the public.

· September 15th – January 20th Harbor History Museum presents, “NWxSE: A Collective Small Tapestries Project of Northwest and Southeast Weavers”

· September 23rd Race for a Soldier Half Marathon – support this amazing event that helps soldiers give themselves “Permission To Start Dreaming”. 8am start time.

· September 29th Glass Pumpkin Patch, Uptown Gig Harbor, 9am-4pm featuring 2000 hand blown glass pumpkins crafted by local artisans

· September 29th Donkey Creek Chum Festival 10am-4pm – celebrating the 6th annual event, at a new location (Skansie Brothers Park), the Chum Fest celebrates the salmon, our fishing heritage, and the environment.

· October 6th Scarecrow Festival and Dirty Dash at Sehmel Homestead Park – Dirt Dash 5K starts at 11am. Scarecrow Festival includes lots of music, Scarecrow contest, games, hay rides, pony rides and pumpkin launcher. The event is free.

· October 6&7th Fine Art “Sail” at Gig Harbor Yacht Club (Sat 10am-5pm and Sunday 11am-4pm). Enjoy a broad spectrum of fine Northwest Artists. Admission only $2.

· October 19-21st Gig Harbor Film Festival – this amazing three day event features independent, foreign, full feature, shorts, documentary, animated and more, as well as a 72-Hour Film Competition, Kidsfest and workshops.

· October 27th Giant Pumpkin Carving, Uptown Gig Harbor – watch master pumpkin sculptor Russ Leno from 9:30am-3:00pm

· October 31st Uptown ( 4-6pm) and Downtown Trick or Treat Events

· November 15th Girls Night Out in Downtown Gig Harbor – kick off holiday shopping! Shop and dine from noon to nine! Lots of great activities, goodie bags, door prizes music and more.

· November 22nd Gig Harbor Turkey Trot – 5K & 10K every Thanksgiving morning brings out thousands of people before they sit down for their annual feast! 9am. Join the fun!
