Fall Gig Harbor Calendar of Events Set for 2013

Gig Harbor, Wash. – August 7th, 2013 – There are many outstanding events in our community to round out this beautiful summer season, and into fall. Events include festivals, runs, walks and performances, and some great autumn options. · August 30th – October 5th Harbor History Museum presents “Peninsula Art League’s 11th Annual Open Juried Art Show” www.harborhistorymuseum.org

· August 31st Fourth Annual Over the Narrows 10 mile Run at 8am and 5K at 9am. A day of fitness and fun for running enthusiasts and the entire family! www.OvertheNarrows.com

· September 14th Harbor Hounds Walk the Town – bring your pooch and enjoy the 11th annual dog walk in the harbor from 10am-3pm. Registration required. www.harborhounds.com

· September 20th – 22nd 20th Annual Open Studio Tour 10am-5pm. Explore artist studios as they are open to the public during this FREE three-day event. www.gigharboropenstudiotour.org

· September 21st Donkey Creek Chum Festival 10am-5pm – celebrating the 7th annual event at Skansie Brothers Park, the Chum Fest celebrates the salmon, our fishing heritage, and the environment. www.gigharborfoundation.org/chum-fest

· September 28th Glass Pumpkin Patch, Uptown Gig Harbor, 9am-4pm featuring 2000 hand blown glass pumpkins crafted by local artisans www.tacomaglassblowing.com

· September 29th Race for a Soldier Half Marathon – support this amazing event that helps soldiers give themselves “Permission To Start Dreaming”. 8am start time. www.RaceForASoldier.org

· October 4th – 6th Fine Art “Sail” at Gig Harbor Yacht Club. Enjoy a broad spectrum of fine Northwest Artists. Admission only $2. www.gigharboryc.com

· October 5th Scarecrow Festival at Sehmel Homestead Park, Scarecrow Festival includes lots of music, Scarecrow contest, games, hay rides, pony rides and pumpkin launcher. The event is free. www.penmetparks.org

· October 7th – January 4th - Harbor History Museum presents, “1987: A Day in the Life Photography Exhibit”

· October 18th - 20th Gig Harbor Film Festival – this amazing three day event features independent, foreign, full feature, shorts, documentary, animated and more, as well as a 72-Hour Film Competition, Kidsfest and workshops. www.gigharborfilmfestival.org

· October 24th Giant Pumpkin Carving, Uptown Gig Harbor – watch master pumpkin sculptor Russ Leno from 9:30am-3:00pm www.uptowngigharbor.com

· October 31st Uptown (4-6pm www.uptowngigharbor.com) and Downtown (3-6pm www.gigharborwaterfront.org) Trick or Treat events

· November 16th Girls Night Out in Downtown Gig Harbor – kick off holiday shopping! Shop and dine from noon to nine! Lots of great activities, goodie bags, door prizes music and more. www.gigharborwaterfront.org
