Gig Harbor Beer Fest — More Brewers, More Music, Third Time Around

It’s that time of year again — time to kick off the spring event season with the Gig Harbor Beer Festival. This annual spring beer-tasting event — in its 3rd year — will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 on Mother’s Day Weekend. The Gig Harbor Uptown Pavilion will once again host this popular event and 21 craft brewers from around the Northwest will be bringing their very best suds for sample pours from 12 noon to 6:00 PM.

This year’s brewers include:

192 Brewing • Kenmore, WA
7 Seas Brewing • Gig Harbor, WA
American Brewing • Edmonds, WA
Bainbridge Island Brewing • Bainbridge Island, WA
Big Al Brewing • Seattle, WA
Der Blokken • Bremerton, WA
Dicks Brewing Co. • Centralia, WA
Everybody’s Brewing • White Salmon, WA

Fremont Brewing • Seattle, WA
Georgetown Brewing Co. • Seattle, WA
Harmon Brewing Co. • Tacoma, WA
Hood Canal Brewery • Kingston, WA

Loowit Brewing Co. • Vancouver, WA
Narrows Brewing • Tacoma, WA
Northwest Brewing • Pacific, WA
Rainy Daze Brewing Co. • Silverdale, WA

RAM Big Horn Brewery • Tacoma, WA
Silver City Brewery • Bremerton, WA
Slippery Pig Brewing • Poulsbo, WA
Sound Brewery • Poulsbo, WA
Wingman Brewery • Tacoma, WA

“There are several brewers returning from previous years who are bringing some fan favorites and new brews to try,” said John Fosberg, festival organizer, “but we also have a great crowd of new brewers who’ve never poured at the event, so we’re looking forward to getting familiar with their beer as well.”

One new comer to the brewer list this year is Loowit Brewing Co., a smaller brewery just now making a name for themselves in the Northwest with a wide variety of brew styles and tastes. Loowit recently won a gold medal at the 2013 Washington Beer Awards and they are making the trek all the way up from Vancouver, WA, where their new brewery opened last year.

Even with all the miles Loowit will log to Gig Harbor and back, they’re still not the brewer traveling the longest distance to attend the festival. Everybody’s Brewing, from little White Salmon, WA., will once again be providing the festival with their very popular beer. “Everybody’s Brewing joined us in our inaugural year, but was unable to make the trip last year. We’re very excited to have them — and their delicious beer — back in 2014” said Mr. Fosberg.

Gig Harbor’s own Heritage Distillery will also be in attendance offering samples of their award-winning spirits — a very special treat for event goers.

The music venue has also expanded this year with the addition of Aisle of View — a reggae band currently touring the U.S. They will be playing at 12:30 PM and then Harbor favorite Perry Acker will take the stage at 2:30 PM.

Last year’s remaining tickets sold out a little over an hour of opening the gates, so anyone planning on attending should purchase advance tickets. Buying an advance ticket will cost you $20 ($25 after 4/25/14), and are available online by visiting the Festival's website at, or at Your ticket admission includes a commemorative taster cup and eight taster tokens. Advance ticket prices go up to $25 after 4/25/14. Depending on availability, you may also purchase tickets the day of the event for $25. Additional taster tokens will be on sale during the day of the Festival.
