Gig Harbor Beer Festival Press Release

May 14, 2012, Gig Harbor, WA -- Sound Brewery Co's Dubbel Entendre wins "Favorite Brew Award" at the inaugural Gig Harbor Beer Festival on May 12, 2012.

There were a lot of people, a ton of sun, and more than 21 of the finest craft beers in the Northwest, but for the attendees of the first-ever Gig Harbor Beer Festival, one beer stood out above the rest: Dubbel Entendre from Sound Brewery Co., in Poulsbo, WA.

"The people chose the favorite brew at the festival," said John Fosberg, event coordinator. "We didn't want a complicated judging system by only a handful of self-proclaimed beer experts. We wanted the event-goers to simply tell us which brew they liked the best -- and they did, by a wide margin. The Dubbel Entendre from Sound kicked butt."

When asked how he felt about winning the award, J. Mark Hood, Sound Brewery Co.'s owner and general manager said, "We are very proud to have so many people at the festival enjoy our Dubbel Entendre. Like all microbrewers, we work hard everyday to create our beers, and this just validates all that hard work. It's great to be recognized, and in appreciation, we now deliver our bottled beer to Albertsons and Harbor Greens in Gig Harbor."

Votes were submitted the day of the festival by writing in your favorite brew on a section of the event program. Votes were cast anonymously and secured by volunteers at the festival.

The Gig Harbor Beer Festival's first year was a big success, drawing an estimated 1,200+ people to the event held at the Uptown Gig Harbor Pavilion. The event was a fund-raiser for the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation, and was sponsored by Blazing Onion Burger Company. Other sponsors included, DPI Print, Disidual Clothing, Cascade Print Media, Tides Tavern, The Peninsula Gateway, The INN at Gig Harbor, and Uptown Gig Harbor, with additional support from the City of Gig Harbor.
