"Wow, what a difference it made having the first year under our belts. Our brewer list filled up in just a couple of weeks after we announce the 2nd annual festival — and we still have a half a dozen brewers on a waiting list,” said festival organizer, John Fosberg.

“A lot of the brewers from last year are returning,” he continued, “but we also have quite a few new brewers attending for the first time, and you know what that means to all the brew connoisseurs out there: more new and unique beers for everyone to enjoy. This year’s festival will offer event goers a more memorable and diverse group of craft beers to choose from over last year."

Mr. Fosberg also mentioned that this year’s space has been expanded by about a third, but even though the space is larger, most of the new room will be used up by the expanded list of brewers, not necessarily more ticket buyers. Plus, a large crowd is expected to catch the live concert by Perry Acker. Advance tickets are selling at a brisk pace, and event organizers encourage everyone to purchase their tickets before hand. Last year some thirsty people were left at the gate.

“Many people are simply attending to hear Perry Acker rock the joint,” said Fosberg. “For the best festival experience, buy your ticket in advance, arrive early, and come thirsty.”

Advance tickets are $20 (you save $5), and are available online by visiting the Festival's website at, or at Your ticket admission includes a 2013 commemorative taster cup and eight taster tokens. You may also purchase tickets the day of the event for $25. Additional taster tokens will be on sale during the day of the Festival.

The Gig Harbor Beer Festival benefits the Gig Harbor/Peninsula FISH Food Bank. And here’s the most important part of all of this: The folks from the Food Bank will be on hand during the festival to collect non-perishable food items — so don’t forget to bring some with you. “Just make sure the items you bring are not past the expiration date,” added Fosberg.
