Gig Harbor Court Administrator Moving On

City of Gig Harbor Court Administrator Paul Nelson announced his resignation today to assume the position of Court Administrator for Chelan County District Court effective May 20, 2011.

Nelson has been with the City of Gig Harbor for 15 years, beginning his career as Court Clerk/Probation Officer.  He became Court Administrator in 2000.

Judge Michael Dunn said today “Paul will be sorely missed by the City of Gig Harbor.  We wish him all the best.”

During his tenure in Gig Harbor, Nelson was instrumental in installing Pierce County’s first domestic violence kiosk where domestic violence victims can quickly access court protection orders and other assistance.  The kiosk is the first of its kind in the nation, initiating a paperless court process.

City Administrator Rob Karlinsey stated that “Paul has been a strong influence for good, both in this organization and the City as a whole.  I admire his passion for ensuring our City’s Court is a fair forum for victims and the accused to access justice.  I am really going to miss him, and I know he will do a great job for Chelan County.

Further announcement will be forthcoming on the process to fill the City of Gig Harbor Court Administrator position.
