Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront is Decked Out for the Holidays!
Twenty-four waterfront businesses participated in the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association’s first annual “Deck the Windows” decorating contest as a part of the yearly “Candlelight Christmas in the Harbor” event. The “Deck the Windows” panel of judges (Mary DesMarais, Josh Sherwin and Linda James) were delighted to see so many wonderfully decorated windows and enjoyed the spirit and enthusiasm shared by the participating businesses. Josh Sherwin, committee chair, said, “it was very hard to select just four winners when so many obviously worked hard, showed team spirit, and creativity to create their entries. The panel of judges determined we had to award some honorable mentions in honor of their hard work.”
Please find some time this holiday season to visit all the stores in the Historic Waterfront District and enjoy the wonderful holiday spirit they have exhibited. Be sure to stop in at your favorite merchant's display and vote for the People's Choice award! Look for the sign in the window indicating participating businesses. Voting continues through December 24th.
And the winners are:
First Place Window Display/Storefront: Harbor Landing Mall - The mall merchants (All Star Guitar, Gig Harbor Wireless, Bayside Books and Sassybones) collaborated on creating a beautiful and detail-filled Winter Wonderland in a common area – it is a perfect place to bring your family for a holiday photo!
Second Place Window Display/Storefront: Beach Basket Christmas Shop: The Christmas Shop team created a magical, holiday village brought to life on a small scale, great use of store merchandise and tremendous team spirit
First Place Painted Window: El Pueblito Restaurant: An attractive, bold, festive Feliz Navidad painted snow scene with Santa and a snowman.
Second Place Painted Window: Spiro's Restaurant: Holiday paintings in every window capture the warmth of the season. The Spiro’s staff showed great team spirit, with many employees participating.
