Gig Harbor Lions Bring Christmas Gifts To Backpack Kids

On the day before Christmas break each child, in the Food Backpacks 4 Kids program in the Gig Harbor area, will receive a backpack filled with non-perishable foods plus a surprise Christmas gift package through the generosity of the Gig Harbor Lions Club. The Backpacks 4 Kids program is a program of the Peninsula Communities Foundation serving children who are in the free lunch program at school. These children receive food backpacks every weekend during the school year. “The Gig Harbor Lions have been involved with collecting donated food for this program since its inception in 2009,” said Lion Joe Morales, “and this is our fourth year providing gifts through our Santa’s Backpack project .

“We are pleased to be able to bring a little joy and Christmas cheer to these children,” said Elaine Morales, chairperson of the program.
