Gig Harbor Lions Club Giving Tree Program

The Gig Harbor Lions Club has supplied 44 businesses throughout the harbor with gift tags to be displayed on Christmas trees for their Giving Tree program. Over 2,000 gifts were distributed last year through Peninsula FISH food bank and the Boys & Girls Club. Our generous community helped kids have a happy holiday season with a gift selected by their parents or guardians.

This year the Lions Club is adding Children’s Home Society to the recipient list, another great organization that works with families in crisis or kids in foster care. They give pajamas as well as a toy to each child, so pajamas have been added to the gift tags.  The earlier the Lions Club can receive gifts, the better, with December 14th being the final due date for returning the present to the store.

This is the 7th year the Lions have coordinated the Giving Tree program.  Many tags are selected by families who teach their children the gift of generosity by shopping for the toy for someone else. There is a wide range of businesses participating this year, a few for the first time.  Participating in the Giving Tree makes you feel good! Helping someone else brings joy to you.
