Ten & Eleven Year-Olds to Play State Tournament Here in July

Gig Harbor, Wash. –April 2013, Gig Harbor Wash – Beautiful Gig Harbor will be the host to hundreds of families during ten days this July when the Gig Harbor Little League hosts the 2013 Washington State Little League Tournament for ten and eleven year olds July 18 – 28th.

“We have been hoping for this event for years,” said Ron Brentin, Vice President of Facilities. “We are really excited to bring this event to Gig Harbor.”

Brentin was one of the founders of the Gig Harbor Little League in 1995. The GHLL fields were built in 1996 and have undergone multiple upgrades over the years, including a current project to build new restrooms and concession stand. The new structure, which the league hopes to have completed by the July tournament, is a 62 foot by 20 foot structure which will replace port-a-potty and an antiquated concession stand.

President Dan Lean says they expect the event, which will bring 13 teams from around the state, to draw hundreds to the community, packing the bleachers, local restaurants, shops and hotels. The public is invited to share in the enthusiasm and come out for the games, which are free for spectators. More information will be coming regarding the schedule and the teams as the tournament draws near. The schedule will be posted at

To help welcome all the guests to Gig Harbor, local merchants are invited to provide coupons or special offers which will be included in packets for each family. Merchants interested in providing offers should contact the City of Gig Harbor Marketing Director Laureen Lund before the end of May at

Gig Harbor Little League is an all-volunteer organization, with some 25 year-around volunteers keeping the organization running, with many other volunteer coaches and assistants helping during the season, which began last week.
