Gig Harbor, Wash., February 10th, 2014 - Gig Harbor Municipal Court is joining the American Bar Association in the celebration of Law Day 2014 with a special ceremony on Wednesday, April 30th, at 6pm, at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, located at 3510 Grandview Street. Students are invited to participate by submitting an essay of 300 words maximum OR a poster no larger than 8 1/2” x 11” between March 1st and April 11th reflecting this year’s Law Day theme, “American Democracy and the Rule of Law: Why Every Vote Matters”. The winning selections will be announced at the Law Day Ceremony. Students, parents, families, and the public are invited to attend.
As we approach the 50th anniversaries of the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, the 2014 Law Day theme was chosen as a way to inspire every American to reflect on the importance of a citizen’s right to vote. We at Gig Harbor Municipal Court hope to spark interest and inspiration for local students, grades K-12, to participate in this event.
Entries will be accepted at the Boys & Girls Club of South Puget Sound and the Gig Harbor Civic Center between the hours of 8am and 5pm, and will be on display in the Civic Center during the month of April.
