GIG HARBOR PUTS ON THE POOCH DURING THE ANNUAL 'HARBOR HOUNDS WALK THE TOWN' EVENT

Gig Harbor, Wash. – August 17. 2010 – Every dog has his day in Gig Harbor, Washington, especially during the annual “Harbor Hounds Walk the Town,” a fun romp that celebrates canines by the sea.. This year’s tail-wagging affair takes place on Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 10AM- 3PM.

Dogs and their devotees come from far and near to participate in Harbor Hounds, a benefit for the Prison Pet Partnership Program, Coalition: HUMAne (formerly Peninsula Spay/Neuter Project) and Gig Harbor Mid-Day Rotary.

The action begins at 10 a.m. as hounds and humans stroll two miles of picturesque Gig Harbor waterfront between Donkey Creek Park and Skansie Brothers Park, stopping along the way for water, pats and chats. The frisky festivities continue until 3 p.m. with a mix of entertainment, contests, demonstrations, information, vendors, and food.

Pooch-loving participants can pick one of three ways to register for Harbor Hounds. Pre-registration will save you money. The $30 Top Dog fee (quantities limited), includes a 2010 Harbor Hounds t-shirt, doggie bandana, Harbor Hounds tote bag and a Wag Bag. The $25 Standard rate comes with the t-shirt, dog bandana and Wag bag. The $10 Hound registration provides the bandana and Wag bag. T-shirts can also be purchased individually for $15 in advance or $20 day of event.

For extra fun, register for one of the new contests; Best Bark, Best Dressed, Best Kisser, Best Trick, Best Tail Wagger or Musical Sit and Stay Game

Gig Harbor goes the extra mile to cater to four-legged guests year-round. Stores place water bowls by their front doors for perambulating pups. The Best Western Wesley Inn welcomes pets with dog-oriented amenities, and lovable mutts can join their masters at the Inn at Gig Harbor.
