Meaningful Movies in Gig Harbor Presents the Documentary "Understanding the Opioid Epidemic"

MM Opioid
Meaningful Movies in Gig Harbor presents the documentary “Understanding the Opioid Epidemic” on Friday, November 8, 2019, 6 pm for snacks and socializing; 6:30 pm for the movie. Held at 11051 Peacock Hill, inside Agnus Dei Church.

"Come for the free movie.  Stay for the stimulating community discussion."
“Understanding the Opioid Epidemic” reveals the tragic impact of the overuse of prescription painkillers on individuals, families and communities. They are stories that often begin with medical treatment for moderate to severe pain that evolve into drug addiction and death. In addition to the personal stories of those impacted by the opioid crisis, the documentary explores the dramatic increase in the use and acceptance of prescription painkillers and addresses possible solutions to the opioid epidemic, including more non-drug treatment for pain, improved opioid prescribing, and reducing the number of opioids produced and prescribed in America.
Special Guest: Derek Young, Pierce County Council
The event is free to the public; donation is gratefully accepted. Contact: Jeni Woock,
