MYSTERY AND FANTASY CONNECT AS HYDRA AUTHORS TAKE THE SOUTH SOUND BY STORM
Dianne Gardner, James William Peercy, and Gwen Perkins join forces this fall to sweep readers away into the drama of other worlds and mysterious adventures. In a rare West Coast joint appearance, this trio of authors from Hydra Publications will be reading from their newest works and displaying art and artifacts as part of this September book tour.
Gig Harbor - August 27, 2012. Fantasy and suspense authors Dianne Gardner, James William Peercy, and Gwen Perkins are reading from their new books at Morso in Gig Harbor from 5-8pm on September 28. Traveling together for the first time, these writers hail from Washington to Texas. “I am looking forward to working with such talented authors in Washington State. It is an honor to be included,” says James William Peercy who has traveled thousands of miles to be a part of this tour.
The unveiling of Gardner’s 9’ Dragon (Old Stone Heart), a triptych oil painting will be a highlight to the introduction of her first book in a trilogy The Ian’s Realm Saga: Deception Peak. Other original oil painting illustrations from Deception Peak will also be on display. Deception Peak has been nominated for an International Reading Association New Author for Children’s Books award. Dianne Gardner is from Ollala, is a very accomplished artist with a current a solo art exhibit at Morso. She has won awards for her artwork throughout Washington including the Publisher’s Award at Emerald Downs, Best of Show at the Frank Toby Jones show, and numerous awards throughout the area. She is an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and the National League of American Pen Women, Peninsula Art League and Plein Air Washington. She has written young adult fantasy novels as well as articles for national magazines and newspapers.
James William Peercy hails from Texas at present but spent his early years in California. He has a love for the outdoors and adventure, as well as a defined view against injustice no matter what form. Washington State has always been on his ‘places to see’ list due to its varying landscape, people, and scenic grandeur. It is also featured as the setting for his upcoming fantasy later this year. Rave reviews of Peercy's works have compared this new voice in suspense to Raymond Khoury and John Grisham. Of his most recent effort, Without A Conscious..., author Desiree Finkbeiner states it is a "highly recommended read for those who enjoy action packed mystery crime thrillers with a little twist of romance."
Bestselling fantasy author Gwen Perkins will be sharing hints of the adventure to come in the next novel in her Artifacts of Empire series while showcasing some of the physical artifacts that have brought her stories to life. The first book in this series, The Universal Mirror, is a nominee for the 2013 Endeavour Award. As a historian and researcher, Perkins often finds great inspiration in unusual settings and the stories of the past. "I'm excited to have a chance to tell readers the real behind-the-scenes secrets about my series," says Perkins. "I think there'll be some big surprises for the audience who comes to the readings."
