KEY PENINSULA GAINS GOURMET BURGERS

Gig Harbor, wa, MARCH 13, 2011: Just in time for the busy summer season, the newest addition to the Key Peninsula’s dining scene is the Gourmet Burger Shop. Located on Highway 302 and 118th AVE NW, Travis Hightower is creating fresh and tasty versions of the great American burger. A veteran of the restaurant business, Travis wanted to bring his skills a little closer to Home – literally, since that’s where he resides. Living on the Peninsula, he knew that both visitors and residents on-the-go would welcome the well-made, delicious comforts of some great burgers and sides. “We’re making a killer Bacon Cheddar Burger with peppered bacon and aged white cheddar, but we’ve got some other tasty options, like the Mushroom Swiss with braised mushrooms, Swiss Cheese and truffled aioli’” says Travis. Everything is made in-house fresh, from the beet chips to the flavored aiolis and sauces. 3 Clouds Bakery, located right across the street, is supplying the buns. The fries might remind locals of the old Beach House fries; freshly cut haystacks of potatoes fried with herbs and garlic. Travis and his crew are looking forward to adding some barbeque and additional outdoor seating to the menu during the summer season. As Travis notes, “We’ve got this great gazebo and the running brook; if we add some barbeque, you’ve got the perfect picnic!” Squeezed into a space previously occupied by the Brookside café, service is largely take-out during the rainy months.
