Olalla’s Second Sunday Concert Spotlights Popular Poulsbo Folk Duo on April 13
Olalla, WA — The Olalla Community Club’s Second Sunday Music Series continues on April 13 with a salute to springtime with popular Poulsbo folk duo Hank Payne and Claire Favro. The concert takes place at 2 p.m. at the Olalla Community Hall.
Although Hank & Claire have been playing together for just five years, their partnership is one of perfect harmony, both musically and personally. Both are accomplished guitarists and both are fine vocalists and songwriters. Their repertoire includes traditional and contemporary folk tunes and original numbers – flavored with stories that will “tickle your funny bone and your heart.” They got their starts individually during the coffee house scene of the 1960s.
“We’re very pleased to bring Hank & Claire to Olalla,” said Hobie Denny chair of the OCC membership committee and instigator of the monthly music series. “They bring such warmth and light-heartedness to their performances and their concert will be a perfect way to celebrate the return of spring.”
Paper and Clay will open the show.
All Second Sunday concerts start at 2pm. The Olalla Community Hall is located at 12970 Olalla Valley Road. Parking is available at the hall and also at the nearby church.
Suggested donation for the Second Sunday concerts is $15 for adults; $10 for children 10-and-under. Tickets are available at Al’s Store in Olalla, Allstar Guitar in Gig Harbor and at the door.
The music series concludes with a special Mothers’ Day show on May 11 with internationally known children’s entertainer Jim Valley.
The Second Sunday Music Series raises funds for OCC and the annual Olalla Bluegrass & Beyond Festival. OCC has been serving the community since 1937. Their work supports a variety of local organizations including the PTA, Little League, food banks and music programs at several schools in the area.
