Painting & Varnishing Plywood Boats Workshop

Saturday, July 18th - 9am-12pm

Join us to learn proper techniques for finishing and maintaining your plywood boat. Led by expert Boatwright Tom Regan, this hands-on workshop will cover: What tools and materials are needed; comparing different types of paint, primers and varnishes; how to prepare the surface for paint or varnish; proper sanding techniques and tools; masking trim; puttying screw holes; applying undercoat (primer); preparing primed surfaces for paint; applying top coats; re-installing hardware; short term and long term maintenance. Please wear old clothes. We will have demonstration boats to work on and all necessary materials and supplies will be provided. Due to space limitations, pre-registration is required. The last workshop sold out. $20 per general attendee. $10 for first Family Boat Building team member. $5 for each additional team member. Workshop held at Gig Harbor BoatShop at historic Eddon Boatyard, 3805 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor.
