Public Hearing Regarding Restaurant Definition/Hours of Operation

Gig Harbor, Wash. May 12, 2011 –The Gig Harbor City Council is requesting public input on an applicant proposal for an amendment to the development regulations for restaurant 1 uses (delicatessens and coffee shops).  The public hearing is scheduled for the May 23rd City Council meeting which begins at 5:30 p.m., Council Chambers located at 3510 Grandview Street, Gig Harbor.

Owners of restaurant 1 use or owners of property within or nearby the affected area and any other interested parties are invited to attend the public hearing and make their views known on the proposal.

Restaurant 1 Definition and Hours of Operation in Waterfront Millville (PL-ZONE-11-0001)  The applicant proposes amending the definition of Restaurant 1 uses to allow beer and wine sales in establishments less than 1,200 square feet in size.  This provision would apply city-wide.  The applicant also proposes extending the evening hours of operation of Restaurant 1 uses in the Waterfront Millville district two hours to 9:00p.m.  Currently, Restaurant 1 uses in the Waterfront Millville district must close by 7:00p.m.

The proposed amendments are available for public review Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the City of Gig Harbor Planning Department, located at 3510 Grandview Street in Gig Harbor, (253) 851-6170.
