Gig Harbor, Wash. –August 18, 2010; Multiple special quilt events are coming to Gig Harbor in September and October;

September 1st the annual Gig Harbor Quilt Show opens at the Gig Harbor Civic Center (3510 Grandview Street) and runs through September 30th. The show will feature specially made invitational quilts as part of the upcoming Gig Harbor Quilt Festival, designed around this year’s theme “Our Patchwork Heritage”.

September 15-18th the annual Gig Harbor Quilt Walk will take place in downtown Gig Harbor and will feature quilts in dozens of local businesses. Maps of where the quilts are located will be available at downtown merchants and the Gig Harbor Visitor Information Center (3125 Judson Street)

October 15th & 16th celebrate the Tenth Annual Gig Harbor Quilt Festival. Friday the 15th author and quilter Margaret Miller will present a workshop “Samplin’AnglePlay: New Blocks with Fresh Angles from 9AM-4PM at Harbor Covenant Church (5601 Gustafson Drive NW). On October 16th Gig Harbor Quilt Festival Auction and Luncheon will take place at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church (12605 54th Ave NW). The invitation quilts that were displayed during the month of September will be auctioned off to benefit Breast Cancer Research. On both October 15th & 16th visit the “Pieces of Love Quilt Show” at the United Methodist Church (7400 Pioneer Ave) and shop the craft boutique. This charity show will include quilts made by the women of the Washington Corrections Center for Women.
