Project Description

Starting in mid-June 2013, the City of Gig Harbor will upgrade the pedestrian access and roadway section of Rosedale Street from Shirley Avenue to Skansie Avenue. The work consists of the installation of a new water main, new sidewalk construction and a bicycle lane along the north side of Rosedale Street, improved pedestrian crossing at the Cushman Trail, and asphalt overlay of the entire roadway.

Funding for this project includes local City funds and two grants from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board totaling $300,000.

Anticipated Preliminary Project Schedule

The water main installation phase of this project will begin mid-June and will be completed by mid-July. The roadway and sidewalk portion of this project will begin immediately after the water main is completed. All work is anticipated to be completed in mid-September.

Impacts to the General Public

During the course of construction there will be significant traffic control, rough road conditions, and long traffic delays. Construction practices associated with this type of work will cause dusty roadway conditions in the summer months and wet, muddy conditions during heavy rain. The equipment used on this project will be large and will cause loud noises and vibrations as the work is performed.

Alternate traffic routes are advised during this project, but please note that access to local residences and businesses will be maintained at all times.

Open House

Residents, businesses and interested citizens are encouraged to attend an informal Open House on June 12th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Community Rooms A/B at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, 3510 Grandview Street in Gig Harbor. City staff will be available to answer questions and provide project information.
