Signature Brass Quintet to perform in Gig Harbor
The Signature Brass Quintet will perform a concert of Christmas music on Saturday, December 10 at 7:00 pm. Also performing will be Meg Daly, Soprano, and Jeff Orr on organ. The concert will be at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Gig Harbor, located at 7701 Skansie Avenue. Admission is free with a donation suggested. The concert is sponsored by the Gig Harbor Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, Louie Labayen, Artistic Director.
The Signature Brass Quintet has established a reputation for performing a creative variety of musical genres. Music on the program will include traditional carols, popular tunes, and classical masterpieces. “Jingle Bells” will be presented in a swing version, Pachelbel’s “Canon” displayed through an unbelievable number of carol themes, and “Do You Hear What I Hear” interpreted like Ravel’s “Bolero”. As usual for their performances, music from many countries will be represented, including: Spain, Germany, Italy, England, Mexico, and America. From the sublime “Christmas Concerto” by Corelli of the Baroque era, to the mariachi sounds of “Feliz Navidad”, the concert will be entertaining and festive.
Meg Daly, Soprano, will sing several holiday pieces, including arias from Handel’s “Messiah”, and lead the audience in a carol sing-along. Jeff Orr will accompany on the organ and also perform an organ prelude for Advent. A highlight will be when the Signature Brass Quintet and Jeff Orr combine for the exciting “Concerto for Organ” by Handel. The triumphant sounds of combined brass and organ will be an impressive conclusion to an evening of fun music and songs.
