Gig Harbor, Wash. – November 24, 2010 – The City of Gig Harbor watermain construction project on Harborview Drive is now complete. All detours and construction equipment have been removed and streets in historic downtown Gig Harbor are open. Come on down to beautiful Gig Harbor this holiday season for shopping and entertainment. Merchants are anxiously awaiting your visit!

“The City understands this project has had impacts on everyone, especially the businesses, residents and the traveling public,” said Jeff Langhelm, Sr. Engineer and Project Manager. ‘We appreciate the patience shown by many during the interruptions and delays that have been caused by this construction.”

Mayor Chuck Hunter, in an editorial piece said “I have been amazed and humbled by the patience of many of our residents and businesses despite the impact the project has had…no more detours or traffic issues are the best Christmas present we can offer!”

There are many great events during the holidays in historic downtown Gig Harbor that the public is encouraged to attend;

December 4th Tree Lighting event at Skansie Brothers Park with Santa, music & treats for the kids 5pm

December 4th Holiday Art Walk in historic downtown Gig Harbor

December 9th Hark the Harbor community caroling event and welcome of Argosy Christmas Ship at Skansie Brothers Park 7:30-9:30pm

December 9-12th Candlelight Christmas in the Harbor, shopping and entertainment through-out the historic downtown.

December 10th Holiday Hayride in downtown Gig Harbor 4:30-7:30pm.
