The Shy Boys & Ted Vigil Top Maritime Gig Entertainment Schedule

The Maritime Gig Festival has a rich tradition of providing family oriented entertainment for all ages during the first weekend of June each year. Organized by the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce, and sponsored by many local organizations including Commodore Sponsor Columbia Bank, the 2012 Maritime Gig continues that tradition with an exciting entertainment lineup that has something for everyone. Most notably, Gig Harbor’s legendary band, The Shy Boys, will once again be featured in what will certainly be an energetic evening of high quality rock ‘n roll. 2012 marks the second year in a row the Shy Boys have been voted “Best Band” in South Sound Magazine’s Best of the South Sound balloting. The Stars of Gig Harbor's Kiwanis' Star Search will be preceding the Shy Boys.

Making his first appearance at the Maritime Gig is John Denver Tribute Artist Ted Vigil. Ted and his band, who all call the Pacific Northwest their home, will be performing in a special Sunday afternoon concert at Skansie Brothers Park on the Pavilion stage. After winning an international singing contest in 2006, and a year later claiming first place on Northwest Afternoon’s Celebrity lookalike contest, Ted began his John Denver Tribute show. Several times a year, Ted performs with Steve Weisberg, John Denver’s lead guitar player. Ted has just completed a new CD of original music which also includes four of John Denver’s greatest songs. If you were ever a fan of John Denver, this is a show you won’t want to miss. According to Tami Vigil, Ted’s wife, the comment most often heard after one of Ted’s shows is “I cannot believe how much he looks and sounds like John!, he really took me back!”

Besides a great selection of festival food and beverages, parade goers will have a special treat waiting for them at Skansie Park when the parade ends this year. Soulstice, a popular Northwest band, will be entertaining with a wide variety of Top 40 music mixed in with a great selection of tunes by Fleetwood Mac to get the party started. Performing together for more than eight years, Soulstice occasionally performs the music of Fleetwood Mac with the South Kitsap Marching Band at some of the Northwest’s largest venues.

For those looking for a few laughs, the Gig has you covered! First, Bill Robison brings his unique and masterful style of physical comedy to the Pavilion Stage. Charming audiences young and old around the world, Bill uses his rubber like face, elastic body and limitless energy to transport audiences to a zany, unpredictable and hilarious world. Featured often at the Puyallup Fair and Seattle’s Moisture Festival, Bill Robison will tickle your funny bone, over and over again. Next, Roberto the Magnificent makes a triumphant return to the Gig’s Pavilion stage with his famous “Crazy Comedy Stunt Show.” Filled with comedic chatter, breathtaking visual stunts and lots of audience participation, audiences will love his wild comical antics, high-energy pace and amazing stunts. Roberto the Magnificent's Crazy Comedy Stunt Show is appealing to adults and children alike!

On Sunday morning, don’t miss a special performance by the Seattle Junior Tamburitzans, a parent sponsored youth group of children ages 3-21. The Tamburitzans perform the music & dance from different regions of Croatia with native costumes and instruments. Music is played on a family of stringed instruments known as the "Tamburitza" and all the current instructors are graduates of the Seattle Junior Tamburitzans who continue to pass on, with passion, the traditions they were taught in their youth to the next generation. Established in 1970, the Seattle Junior Tamburitzans continue to perform several times a year throughout the Pacific N.W. as well as attend national/international Jr. Tamburitza gatherings, when possible, sponsored by the Croatian Fraternal Union of America.

Throughout the weekend, performances from Peninsula School Groups, Arletta Sound, Peninsula Youth Orchestra, Kiwanis Star Search and Harbor Dance will also be taking place. For a detailed listing of Maritime Gig Festival Events, go to
