Washington Restaurant Association Announces Restaurant Finalists for National Philanthropy Award
August 5th, 2010; OLYMPIA, Wash.—The Washington Restaurant Association announced today its four state Restaurant Neighbor Award winners. Farrelli’s Wood Fire Pizza in Tacoma; Tides Tavern in Gig Harbor; Pearl Bar & Dining in Bellevue; and Pike Place Bar & Grill in Seattle are being recognized for charitable contributions within their communities (click on each restaurant to learn more). The prestige of the Restaurant Neighbor Award continues to grow, with this year’s program in Washington garnering the largest number of applicants in the U.S.
The four state winners will compete for a chance at the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Neighbor Award, a program that recognizes outstanding community service in the U.S. restaurant industry.
The national winners will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., this September to be presented this prestigious award during the 12th annual Restaurant Neighbor Award gala dinner and presented with $5,000 to help their favorite charity or community project.
“Reading through the applications these restaurants submitted was really gratifying” said Anthony Anton, WRA president and CEO. “We’re pleased to see so many of our members showing such generosity in unique and meaningful ways throughout Washington.”
The National Restaurant Association and founding partner American Express developed the Restaurant Neighbor Award to recognize outstanding community programs across the country and to inspire other restaurant operators and owners to contribute to their communities.
Washington state 2010 RNA finalists include: Canyons Restaurant, Bothell; Kona Kai Coffee Company, Kent; The Keg Steakhouse & Bar, Lynnwood; Popeyes Chicken, Milton; Frasers Gourmet Hideaway, Oak Harbor; Hiroki/Encore Desserts, Seattle; The Georgian / The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle; Washington Athletic Club, Seattle; Cyrus O'Leary's, Spokane; Thai Siam Restaurant, Seattle; Bad Albert's Tap & Grill, Seattle; Washington Restaurant Group, Issaquah.
All state winners receive a recognition plaque to display in their restaurant and are profiled for their community service efforts in the NRA’s award publication, as well as on the National Restaurant Association’s website.
